The community has reacted after it was announced that Craig Wright, the controversial defender of the Bitcoin SV that was self-styled as Satoshi Nakamoto, had requested the rights on the whitepaper and the Bitcoin software.

As previously reported, Wright appears to have filed the forms with the United States Copyright Office on April 11, as another measure to prove that he is the creator of the Bitcoin protocol.

Unsurprisingly, the news has sounded more like a joke to the community, and an enterprising member created a petition on the Change.org website where those who agree, may sign to remove Wright's name from any document of the copyright associated with Bitcoin.

The link was shared in a Reddit publication, along with a text in the pseudonym user SwayStar123 recalls that in October 2008 Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin whitepaper and since then his identity has been unknown.

He points out that Wright could have submitted the forms to stimulate the investment in Bitcoin SV, of which he is a faithful defender, however:

"This is an extremely unethical act carried out by Craig and the real Satoshi can not even dispute the claim as he has done and probably wants to continue in anonymity. I want the name of Craig Wright to be removed from the copyright of the bitcoin technical document. "

The collection of signatures seems to have started today, May 22nd, and at the time of this publication, more than 500 people have signed on to the website, according to the information visible upon entering.

Now, remember that Jerry Brito, executive director of CoinCenter, said Wright could be successful in its registration since it is only necessary to present the form. The inconvenience would occur if someone else appeared trying to apply for the patent for the whitepaper and the software.

So although this initiative seems to have been very well received by the community to express its scepticism before the ego of Wright, who has always failed to prove it, it is necessary to be clear that this will not influence the real decision.
