Yulia Tymoshenko, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, who is currently conducting a presidential campaign for the upcoming elections in March, proposed using blockchain technology to combat corruption, according to a Facebook post.

Tymoshenko dedicated his post to the International Day Against Corruption, claiming that modern Ukraine is mired in "total corruption". In addition, he explained that his party will make great efforts to combat bribes.

The former Prime Minister said that blockchain technology can be an effective tool for public administration. According to Tymoshenko, to prevent corruption, state records should be registered in a blockchain.

Among other measures, he also promised to protect the country's courts from the influence of politicians, demanding that officials accept bribes and end monopolies.

It is important to remember that previously, Tymoshenko had already declared that the blockchain technology was ideal to combat corruption in his statements in the Kiev forum last June, commenting:

"Blockchain is a perfect technology against corruption, and it has already been demonstrated internationally. To eliminate corruption in public records and protect the personal information of each citizen, we must transfer all management systems to a blockchain. "

Tymoshenko was Prime Minister of Ukraine for the first time in 2005 and subsequently between 2007 7 2010. In June of this year, she announced her candidacy to become Ukraine's president in the upcoming elections.

It is also important to note that the Ukrainian Electoral Commission conducted a pilot test of decentralized voting using 28 nodes of the NEM blockchain. Oleksandr Stelmakh, head of the State Registry in the Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine, commented that "they continue experimenting with the application of blockchain technology in the electoral system".

In addition, the country is considering issuing its own state digital currency , the e-hryvnia, which could be based on a blockchain and be anchored to the national fiduciary currency, the hryvnia.
