A member of the UK parliament commented that it should be possible to make payments to local authorities and service providers with Bitcoin (BTC), according to a local media report Express.co.uk.

The article points to Eddie Hughes, of the conservative party, as a "cryptocurrency enthusiast with amateur knowledge" . He also points out that blockchain technology receives a lot of attention lately and that parliamentarians have "the duty to understand it".

In this way, Hughes comments that he recently met with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, which currently accepts cryptocurrencies as a method to make donations, which led him to think:

"What is stopping us from being able to pay our taxes and other bills with Bitcoin?"

These statements came shortly after the US state of Ohio announced that businesses can now pay their taxes in Bitcoin. Regarding this decision, Hughes commented:

"Either you are in front of the curve or you are behind it, and our country is currently in an interesting position. We need to be seen as a progressive country. "

Also, the current collapse of the cryptocurrency market has succeeded in appeasing pressure from the British financial regulator to create regulations for cryptocurrencies, according to a Reuters report.

Now that the market is going through its worst moment in more than a year, the officials indicated that they will take more time to develop a much more balanced legal framework, as opposed to the haste they showed a few months ago.

On the other hand, in the framework of a conference aimed at cryptocurrencies in London, Gillian Dorner, deputy director of financial services at the Ministry of Finance of Great Britain, commented that this should be considered as an opportunity to "take all the necessary time to review this issue in depth and make sure you take an appropriate approach.
